WHO IS COOL RICKY BLUES?
Born in Natchez, Mississippi, and raised in Summit, Mississippi, this all-around talent grew up listening to the great pioneers of soul music like Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Al Green, and Johnnie Taylor. But he always related to and loved the simple, yet powerful stories told in country music, and also loved artists like Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson, and Merle Haggard.
After receiving a great deal of radio airplay on major radio stations like Majic 102.1 FM in Houston, Texas, and 1070 WDIA AM in Memphis, Tennessee, opening shows for legendary soul artist Bobby Womack and R&B artist Floyd Dixon, and performing several shows with Grammy award-winning artist Bobby Rush, Cool Ricky Blues had developed bigger ambitions with his music…
While growing up as a soul music singer, but always having a burning desire for country music, Cool Ricky Blues decided to mix the two, creating what some are now calling "Country Soul" or "Soulful Country".
